Background
David B. Tolkan & Associates, Accounting and Consulting, have been providing quality accounting, tax and business consulting services in California since 1988. In 1992 we moved to the Monterey Peninsula and took over the practice of Reginald Pires CPA.

Team Bios:
David B. Tolkan, CPA has an accounting practice which focuses on small business accounting and consulting, estate and trust planning, and income tax preparation (individuals, trusts & estates, corporations, partnerships and LLC’s). David has an open door policy with all clients.
David is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a B.S. degree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting and Finance. He has been in the accounting and tax fields for 29 years, 22 years of which has been as a sole practitioner. Currently, David is a Partner in David B. Tolkan & Associates, a CPA firm. David is a past state president of the Society of California Accountants and has been a part of its Board for more than seven years. David remains involved in the Society of California Accountants as its Legislative Committee Chair. Locally, he has served as president and board member of the Monterey Peninsula Kiwanis Club, two term president of the Monterey Bay Area Chapter of the Society of California Accountants, and various other nonprofit organization boards.

Nancy J. Bernaldo is an Enrolled Agent and is licensed to practice before the IRS. She handles individual tax returns and small business consulting. Ms. Bernaldo is a fee-only investment advisor and provides comprehensive financial planning on an hourly or project basis in areas of tax, retirement planning, college planning, budget analysis and estate planning. Nancy is a firm believer in the TEAM APPROACH to financial planning and will work with your team of advisors to maximize the quality of service she brings to you.
Ms. Bernaldo is a graduate of UCLA in Applied Mathematics and began her career in the actuarial field. She has been in the financial and accounting arena for over 15 years and specializes in tax and financial advice. Nancy has served on numerous non-profit boards and organizations such PTA, Parent’s Booster Clubs and Girl Scouts of America. She has served as president of the Financial Planning Association, Monterey Bay Chapter in 2002 - 2003 and again in 2007-2008. She has co-written planning articles for trade magazines such Financial Planning magazine and Solutions, a supplemental magazine for the Financial Planning magazine.
